As you can see I need your help. So please send in any ideas you may have for a Mexican Fiesta.
Follow the jumping beans to ideas for your next Mexican Fiesta. (See special note at the bottom of this page.)
Food
You can't have a great Fiesta with out lots of chips and salsa. How about nachos, avocado dip and bean dip? Kids will love tacos to. Make it a buffet line and they can fix their own tacos.
For something sweet try sopaipillas. You can have honey and different things for the kids to try on the sopaipillas.
For drinks you can use any kind of punch and a little green food coloring to give it that special Mexican color.
Jungle Juice Punch
1 1/2 quarts water 4 cups sugar 1 (46oz) can pineapple juice 1 (46oz) can/carton orange juice 1/4 cup lemon juice 6 ripe bananas, mashed 2 (32oz) bottles ginger ale
Bring the water to a boil and add sugar and stir until dissolved. Then add your bananas, pineapple, orange and lemon juices. Now put the mix into tubs that you can freeze. Let the mix freeze over night. Take the mix out about 2 or 3 hours before you are ready to serve. At time of serving put the slushy mix into a large punch bowl and pour in chilled ginger ale. (Bananas will be dissolved when you serve the punch)
Games
What great Fiesta would be complete with out a pinata? You can find the donkey and chili pinatas just about anywhere. You can also put a special coin in the pinatas and who ever gets the coin or coins gets to go home with a sombrero or maracas. Another great thing to do is have a Polaroid camera with you and take the kids pictures with their teacher and they can be wearing a sombrero and shaking maracas or if someone has a Mexican flag take their picture in front of it.
Decorations
Hang or sit sombreros and maracas around the room. Hang the big muti-color Christmas lights around the room or even the chili pepper lights. In the Balloon and Novelty book you can find little plastic Mexican flags to give out. The also have flexible sombrero straws for the drinks.
*With this parties and with all others don't forget to tell your parents what *kind of party you are going to have and see if they have any decorations *that would go along with your theme. You never know who may have just *what you are looking for.
